An incredible piece of art I found in the Abstract section of the National Gallery was Blue Poles by Jason Pollock. Made from oils, enamel, aluminium paint and glass on canvas, I found that the colour really pop off th canvas with the textured materials that have been used creating this piece of art. Ranges of bright colours have been used, making the piece eye catching and

 visually appealing. The modern feel for its era definitely makes it stand out with the splash technique used with the paint. This has to be one of the most inspiring paintings in the gallery.

Name of Artwork: Les Amants

Date of Artwork: 1928

This surreal vision of a man and woman who are lovers, invokes a number of ideal and controversial topics. As the title suggests the couple in the painting are lovers, but their faces are concealed. This idea confuses the intended audience. The couple are hiding their identities. This painting while technically sound, I found confusing and unsure, but as a surreal painting, it is successful in creating a number of ideas and thoughts.
